This was created for Medical Professionals in a Hospice setting. Together, we can share our personal experiences, so that each of us can provide the BEST care for our patients who are so deserving of it.
HospiceRealTalk, is just that, we are going to share frank and candid tips on how to talk to dying patients and their families. Time is not always on our side when a patient is admitted to Hospice services. We may find that the patient and/or family member is in denial, angry, emotionally, mentally or physically unable to handle the information. Or we may find that there is no family and the patient is alone. Whatever the situation, there are things that need to be said, and we have all had our challenges. We have had conversations that went well or maybe not so well. So we will share how we said things, and why it did or did not go well.
Every few days a new topic will be posted. We invite you to share your personal experiences and what worked and did not work for you. Lets help each other while we provide truthful, yet gentle care to our patients and their families.
